We are delighted to announce the release of Referrals+, a fraud search tool designed to prevent fraudsters from re-entering the network. Referrals enables Credit Control Analysts to vet a customer in near real time or batch (e.g. post connection review) as part of the Customer Referrals process.
Referrals+ can run as a backend application used by the Credit Control Analysts in tandem with store staff or it can be integrated into the Point of Sale (POS) for near real time searches. Referrals can also run as a batch by taking feeds of New Connections and comparing them to the Fraud Watch List for potential lapses in credit vetting.
The Referrals+ release came about on 09 September 2013. However, as with all our new releases, we needed a few tweaks – why postpone it to the next release when we have a few days to spare – and we managed to finally release it on 13 September 2013. The first client run will happen on 16 September 2013. Moments to truly cherish!
We are really proud that Referrals+ is going to be used by one of the largest telecoms companies in the world and we hope that it will help them cut fraud further. Over a 100 searches will be performed each day by Analysts spanning two continents, all in the aim to ensure that repeat offenders are not allowed to slip through the net.
Referrals+ has been in the making for the past 20 weeks and we had to get a number of nifty algorithms in place. To start with, our engineers developed a name and address algorithm which will index the input data in multiple ways to ensure that the matches are accurate. Then came the scoring techniques to ensure that false positives are low while bringing in the best and the unusual matches. The user interface has been built on our super user friendly Orpheus platform and the data integrator (another new product of ours which I’ll cover in another blog post) will load the data from multiple data sources into the Referrals database. In essence, Referrals+ is a combination of a complex back end engine with a super easy web front end.
