Our unwritten manifesto

1. Get things done – Saying something is not working, or someone is not responding, is not inspiring. We are here to solve problems; to figure things out; to get to the right people and ask the right questions; work with a team to get things done.

2. Do things with the highest focus and conviction – Whether you are writing a document, designing an icon, designing a product, writing code, testing, selling, responding to clients, make it a point to do it accurately and with high quality and integrity.

3. Good enough is never good enough – It should be great, and then some more should be our mindset. Get peer reviews and feedback, so you can constantly improve, but don’t make others re-write your entire codebase. We can tolerate mistakes and learn from them, but we must not tolerate mediocrity.

4. Quality over quantity – Quality over quantity so it doesn’t matter how much time is spent but it should produce maximum impact for growth. Time wasted = money wasted. Bad quality = money wasted. Poor understanding = money wasted. Quality over quantity always.

5. Plan and prioritise – Plan your own work ahead. The leads and managers are there to help, coach, guide, review, remove obstacles, keep the company in good shape and act as a sounding board. But you should lead, ideate, collaborate and get things done.

6. Chasing ain’ t cool – Respond to Weekly Updates, Work Forecasts, Support Emails, Meetings, Planning sessions, Phone calls etc – Expecting to be chased is never cool.

7. Communicate right – Respond to clients precisely and with clarity in the minimal of email exchanges. Listen, take notes and most importantly act on them.

8. Understand the business – Each of us must understand the business unequivocally. We must understand how each of our work translates into value and why customers choose us over others to pay for our services (our niche). And truly understand what happens when we stop embracing change and stop producing great quality work.

9. Know thyself – If you are struggling to get through the day, unable to face up to the challenges that face us, unable to think through ideas and unable to produce great quality work, frslabs is perhaps not the right match for you. Reason: customers trust us with their business and their livelihoods and we must not let them down for our own shortcomings. So you should step up or step out to make way for fresh minds to join the team.

10. Help and support each other – We are here for each other and pushing each other to bring out the best in each of us. You treat others just the way you want to be treated.

11. Measure what matters – We measure what matters, and we give honest and direct feedback when it matters. Take your work seriously while at work, be honest with yourself and act in the best interest of frslabs.
